March Service Stars

Each month Kerbey Lane Cafe honors two Service Stars. These are team members who exemplify the KLC core values, who lend an extra helping hand, and who are all ‘round awesome people. They are certainly worthy of a spot on our blog. Check them out!

Three and a half years.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

Working with all my friends. Three of my roommates work at Kerbey as well, so it’s definitely a family affair.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you as a volunteer.

I think it’s a combination of wanting to give back to the community and getting to volunteer with people I know and like. I’m grateful that Kerbey provides us with the opportunity and encouragement to give back.

What causes do you care most about?

I care a lot about the homeless community.

Which volunteer opportunity that Kerbey has offered have you enjoyed the most?

H-E-B Thanksgiving Feast of Sharing.

Why do you think Kerbey Lane makes giving back one of its priorities?

Kerbey leadership recognizes the importance of giving back and since Kerbey has grown, they have a large base of people capable of making a difference in the community.

If you could meet one person, who would it be?

Freddie Mercury. A lifelong dream of mine that I know can never come true. **sad face**

How long have you worked at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

Two months

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

All of the teamwork – my past serving jobs haven’t necessarily emphasized teamwork and I really appreciate the “all for one and one for all” attitude at Kerbey.

Tell me about one of your favorite moments at Kerbey.

I’ve been getting a lot of interesting customers late night on Friday and Saturday. A lot of weird stuff goes down on the weekends.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you to give great service to guests.

I like to make guests feel welcome and I strive to provide the experience that I would like to have if I were a guest.

Are there any skills you use as a team member here at Kerbey that come in handy during everyday life?

I used to be a really shy person until I started waiting tables. Kerbey has helped to bring me out of my shell and now I feel like I can talk to anybody.

What’s your favorite pancake flavor?

Cranberry Walnut

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

The ability to be in six places at once. That would be super helpful in my job and in life in general.

What’s your spirit animal? A Chihuahua – I got a Chihuahua two years ago and we get called twins all the time.

Congratulations to our March Service Stars!
