November Service Stars

Each month Kerbey Lane Cafe honors two Service Stars. These are team members who exemplify the KLC core values, who lend an extra helping hand, and who are all ‘round awesome people. They are certainly worthy of a spot on our blog. Check them out!

How long have you worked at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

It will be one year in January.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

I love the customers, the culture and how friendly everyone is. I always come to work smiling, and that’s awesome.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you as a volunteer.

I’ve been volunteering since I was in college. I enjoy helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives.

What causes do you care most about?

I love animals. If I could open my own rescue I would. My favorite Kerbey volunteer event was the one benefitting Urban Roots.

Why do you believe it’s important to volunteer?

I believe it’s important to give back in your own community.

Why do you think Kerbey Lane makes giving back one of its priorities?

Kerbey Lane embodies all things Austin and believes it’s important to give back to a community that has done so much for them. It’s also a great opportunity for team members —everyone I know really enjoys the volunteer events.

Are there any skills you use as team member at Kerbey that come in handy during volunteer projects?

My eagerness and willingness to help.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

To become invisible. Sometimes it would be nice to be “a fly on the wall”, so to speak.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

All the people – both the customers and my coworkers. They’re all basically my friends that I just happen to work with. My coworkers understand my sense of humor and I look forward to every shift.

Tell me about one of your favorite moments at KLC.

On my first night being a server, it was really busy and everyone offered to help me out. It was a nice feeling knowing I had that support.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you to give great service to guests.

I strive to be kind to people, no matter what the situation. I’m genuine and I enjoy being of service to others, which makes me well suited to my position as a server.

Are there any skills you use as a team member here at Kerbey that come in handy during everyday life?

My sense of humor. Everything in life is better if you’re able to laugh about and not take things too seriously.

What’s your favorite pancake flavor?

Classic Buttermilk with a cinnamon swirl

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

My superpower would be to be able to know the time without having to look at a clock or phone. I have no idea why, it just seems like a good thing to know.

Congratulations to our November Service Stars!
