October Service Stars

Each month Kerbey Lane Cafe honors two Service Stars. These are team members who exemplify the KLC core values, who lend an extra helping hand, and who are all ‘round awesome people. They are certainly worthy of a spot on our blog. Check them out!

How long have you worked at Kerbey?

It will be 2 years in January.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey?

The people—both my fellow team members and customers. I’m such a social person; I love meeting new people.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you as a volunteer.

My family has had their own share of struggles, and now that I am in a good place I want to help those less fortunate than me. Volunteering through Kerbey’s programs allows me to help more people than I would be able to as an individual.

What causes do you care most about?

I care most about causes impacting health. My father passed away from cancer, and I was able to reverse my own diabetes through diet and exercise.

Why do you believe it’s important to volunteer?

That’s simple: it’s important to me to improve the lives of others since I am able.

Why do you think Kerbey makes giving back one of its priorities?

Kerbey has always been about supporting their local community. No other job has given me the opportunity to volunteer, and that’s something really special.

Are there any skills you use as team member at Kerbey that come in handy during volunteer projects?

Multi-tasking. I like a challenge and I thrive in a fast-paced environment. I enjoy having a hand in many things in order to help as much as possible.

What is your Spirit Animal?

A giraffe. Giraffes are very peaceful and social animals.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

Teleportation. It would really come in handy when things get busy!

How long have you worked at Kerbey?

2 1/2 years, collectively.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey?

My fellow team members—they make the job interesting. I enjoy making them laugh and exchanging playful banter back and forth.

Tell us about one of your favorite moments at Kerbey.

During an all employee meeting, I played the part of Mason (CEO). Everyone in the meeting laughed and Mason was all too eager to hand over his responsibilities to me. We can all be glad he didn’t.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what motivates you to provide great service to guests.

I’m a people pleaser; taking care of others is second nature to me. I’m also a comedian and I enjoy interjecting humor into all my interactions.

Are there any skills you use as a team member here at Kerbey that come in handy during everyday life?

Communication and social skills. My position at Kerbey has really brought me out of my shell.

What’s your favorite pancake flavor?

In the fall it’s Pumpkin with a cinnamon swirl and in the summer it’s Lemon Poppy Seed with a blueberry pancake underneath.

What is your Spirit Animal?

A raccoon/turtle hybrid. Raccoons are cunning, curious creatures and turtles are methodical and determined.

Congratulations to our October Service Stars!
