June Service Stars

Each month Kerbey Lane Cafe honors two Service Stars. These are team members who exemplify the KLC core values, who lend an extra helping hand, and who are all ‘round awesome people. They are certainly worthy of a spot on our blog. Check them out!

Service Star Team Member: Logan Faqua

“Logan Faqua deserves the Service Star nomination more than anyone I've ever worked with. He makes every shift brighter—he is always happy and goes above and beyond. Logan is the sweetest, most team-oriented person that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.” –Kaylee Prymuszewski

“Derek signs up for every volunteer project and is always eager to hear about the next one! He doesn’t care what the job is, he is willing to help out in any way he can. His enthusiasm for helping others has really made an impact on me and helps me grow as a Community Ambassador. That enthusiasm encourages me to find more exciting projects for our team, and hopefully inspires others to come out and be a part of it! Thanks Derek, the community appreciates ya!” –Coe Selgestad

How long have you worked at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

Almost 7 months.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

I love working at the Central location because it has been around for so long, there are quite a few regulars. I enjoy establishing my own regular customers—it feels great when a customer asks for me specifically.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you as a volunteer.

I have done a lot of community service in my life and I enjoy giving back in my free time.

What causes do you care most about?

I volunteer for every event regardless of the cause, but I gravitate toward causes benefiting children with learning disabilities.

Why do you believe it’s important to volunteer?

I believe that if you have the free time and you’re capable of volunteering, then you should help the community you live in.

Why do you think Kerbey Lane makes giving back one of its priorities?

Kerbey has been a part of the community for so long and they believe it’s important to keep their community strong—volunteering is a great way to do that.

Are there any skills you use as team member at Kerbey that come in handy during volunteer projects?

The ability to interact with new people is really important. I’ve become a lot better at interacting with kids since working at Kerbey Lane.

What is your spirit animal?

An octopus. (Symbolizes wisdom, adaptation, camouflage, grace, memory and mental agility.)

Congratulations to our June Service Stars!
