November Service Stars

Each month Kerbey Lane Cafe honors two Service Stars. These are team members who exemplify the KLC core values, who lend an extra helping hand, and who are all ‘round awesome people. They are certainly worthy of a spot on our blog. Check them out!

How long have you worked at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

1 1/2 years.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

I really like the team dynamic. The store leaders care about team members as people rather than just employees. I really appreciate that my coworkers root for and support each other both inside and outside of work.

Tell us a little about yourself and what motivates you as a volunteer.

I’m a full-time physical therapy student. What motivates me to volunteer is the realization that I’ve been given a lot of opportunities in life and I think it’s important to give back. I enjoy giving back to the city and the people that love.

What causes do you care most about?

I’m really passionate about early childhood education. I believe that it’s super important to have qualified teachers and fewer students per teacher because it leads to better results later on in life.

Which volunteer opportunity that Kerbey has offered have you enjoyed the most?

We had the opportunity to work at Child, Inc. They have a kid’s Olympics that we got to help set up. It was great to see the smile on their faces. They were so excited to see us and it was definitely rewarding.

What’s your favorite pancake flavor?

Chocolate Chip Swirl, add strawberries.

What is your spirit animal?

A raccoon, I like to sleep all day and I’ll pretty much eat anything.

How long have you worked at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

1 1/2 years.

What is your favorite thing about working at Kerbey Lane Cafe?

My night shift team members–they’re like family. We all work really well together. Teamwork is a big thing, and we always have each other’s back, even when short staffed.

Tell us about one of your most memorable moments at Kerbey.

Lots of interesting guests come in during the night shift and I’ve seen lots of debaucherous, weird things happen.

Are there any skills you use as a team member here at Kerbey that come in handy during everyday life?

The ability to multitask and prioritize. I have four kids, so I kind of had that part down already, but my tolerance and patience for people has definitely increased.

What’s your favorite pancake flavor?

Gluten-free Gingerbread Swirl

What is your spirit animal?

A cat. I can affectionate at times, but I can also be aloof.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Superhuman strength! I would open ALL of the pickle jars.

Congratulations to our November Service Stars!
